Alcossebre, much more than sea and mountains
Alcalá de Xivert
The environment of Alcossebre is not limited to the offer of virgin beaches and coves, but rather offers the visitor a wide range of cultural and recreational offers..
Alcalá de Xivert is a town located in the Bajo Maestrazgo region, in the province of Castellón, in the Valencian Community. It is a small town with a well-preserved historic center that preserves typical architecture of the area and several interesting historical buildings..
Within the population, it is worth noting the architectural complex formed by the Church of San Juan Bautista, the parish museum and the bell tower (one of the highest in the Valencian Community), from the 18th century, located in the church square. To this we must add more religious buildings worth visiting, such as the Chapel of the Desamparados, the Hermitage of Calvario, the Hermitage of Santa Lucía and San Benet or “the Ruta de les Capelletes”.
The population is not exempt from civil monuments of cultural and historical interest, such as the House of Culture, the Creu del Francés or El Prigó del Rey.
The town has a wide range of services and shops, as well as accommodation and restaurants. It is an ideal starting point to discover the nearby coast of Alcossebre and the inland mountains of the Bajo Maestrazgo region, where you can do outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, climbing, etc.
Alcalá de Xivert is an interesting destination for those looking for a quiet and authentic place in which to enjoy the history and culture of the Valencian Community, as well as the natural beauty of the area.
